Very helpful . Having had to force my flap open I intend to order the internal part and try and replace as per your instructions. My only concern is that the fault that caused the locking mechanism to fail in the first place may have been elsewhere might mean I have to force the replacement open as soon as it is installed …

The problem is caused by water getting down the plastic shaft of the lock unit into the motor inside it. Give the new one a bit of grease where the shaft enters the body, and that should keep water out.

Many thanks for the guide! Saved me having to send the car to the garage and paying for something that is easy to do on your own.

I had to change the lock to the flap, the guide works perfect for this.

Please note that you _will_ break the fastening clips. So you need to order a new charging socket flap kit with hinge and all. These are the two parts you need to change the lock;

One thing that I suggest adding to the guide is that its easier to cut through the gasket surrounding the charging port. The whole dissasembly part gets a lot easier this way. Make sure to cut as close to the charging port as possible though - this way you wont risk cutting into the gasket behind (which is not part of the socket flap part.
