Is this normal?

I just noticed that on my front brakes, there looks like some sort of a chip. It's on both sides so I'm not sure if this is designed that way. They are both slightly different sizes.
Could someone tell me if this is normal? The car is only 3 months old.

This notch is simply where a small quantity of material has been machined from the disc during production to ensure that the disc itself is perfectly balanced - as any imbalance can produce undesirable vibration.

I checked for pictures of balancing after what you just said and it looks like it. Panic over, thank you!
