Evening all,
Just picked up my new Enyaq 85 Edition today, so am still getting used to it all. Apologies if this is a really silly question, but have just travelled to work on a dual carriageway. The driver side blind spot light illuminated when people were overtaking me, but when I was overtaking things, the passenger side one remained dark at all times. I thought it would illuminate as I overtook, then turn off when it was safe to indicate and pull back in? Have I got this wrong, or is there a fault? I have tried turning the system off and on again, and both lights illuminated and could have the brightness adjusted, so I know the LEDs work...
Many thanks, and again, sorry if this seems a really stupid question.

Thank you Pea. So just to clarify, I overtake a car/lorry, and then need to increase my speed to get the light to illuminated and tell me it's safe to pull back over? I would have thought it should tell me automatically when it's safe, no speed change required?
The lights illuminate when there is something moving faster than you on that side. It's meant to prevent you pulling out into the path of something that might hit you. So if you overtake something, unless they speed up it won't illuminate on the passenger side.
Basically there are radar units below each rear light cluster. If they detect anything approaching (ie Doppler shift up) in the area next to the car and about 10m back then the light on that side comes on. Fantastic when driving in spray and there's a silvery grey car without its headlights on overtaking you

Mine works as you would expect
If I am on a motorway for example, pull out to overtake a slower vehicle the nearside blind spot detection light illuminates and stays lit until I am clear to pull back in.
The offside lights when a vehicle is coming past me.
Exactly how I would expect and others vehicles behave

Hmm mine definitely does not behave that way, but does exactly what Rich says. It only detects vehicles coming past me on both sides, it does not detect vehicles "sat" next to me. If the vehicle sits off my rear quarter and keeps pace with me, the light does not illuminate
Page 180 of the manual states it only operates up to certain speed differences
As my normal cruise speed on a motorway is about 63 then this could be why mine triggers and more speedy drivers don't
