… I am expecting the car to be ready for pick up mid to late August. I commented "that's okay if it's that close to Sep I will wait for the new number plate". I got a response that they have to process and register the car within 8 days of accepting the car, or they loose the plug in grant, (still have the grant as it was ordered mid Oct 2021)
Does anyone know if this is correct or is it just a ploy to get the car accepted ASAP and the commission paid…
Only time limit I can see is that the process must be completed within 9 (now 12) months.
They only pay the dealer once a month so there maybe a cutoff each month to aim for to avoid waiting another month.

When our car was allocated build week 1 and possible delivery early Feb it was my dealer who advised to wait for the new plates, even if that meant a 3 week wait. I can't comment on the 8 days the dealer is mentioning, but that's not how our dealer dealt with it. Furthermore as I ordered the car very early (wasn't due a new one until Sept 2022) I discussed and agreed with the dealer that it may sit at the dealership unregistered for 3 or 4 months, which was absolutely not an issue.

Ordered June ‘21 with initial estimated delivery Dec ‘21, due to pandemic delays new estimated delivery moved to April ‘22 (order was accepted by factory in Dec ‘21 and build date of Week 11 (March 14th 22), then the Ukraine/Russia conflict caused further delays with new estimated delivery moved to May ‘22, further factory delays moved it yet again to end of June ‘22. Received update from dealer on May 19 vehicle released from factory and in transit from factory to Emden. Just got a call from the dealer, car passed through PDI checks, now to go through the lease company’s final checks and sign off with my work with delivery currently scheduled for next week Wednesday 22nd June 2022.

That's exciting (ordered the same day as you)! Do you know if the build status has changed, or is it just the dealer using his/her intuition?
Mine is still status P, but I'm expecting/hoping that it'll change and get a build date allocated any week now...
I’m not sure if the build status has changed. I sent an e-mail like many times before just to ask if there’s any info about my car. My expectations was once again to get nothing but instead, the dealer wrote exactly:
”going into production in August (may even go earlier). I'll get back to you as soon as the exact build week is confirmed”.
It doesn't matter to me whether it's a hunch or knowledge. Finally after six months of knowing nothing, I have a somekind of a timeframe for my car to be delivered and I'm happy with that.

We have a final date. The car is due to be deliverd to the dealer on Monday and we should be getting her on the 24th June. Just a few days short of 8 months from date of order.

One day before us! Ours is scheduled for collection 25th June, 9 3/4 months since order!
Finally some good news. Unconfirmed build week 34 so hopefully will get the car before the 1 year anniversary of the order.

I should be getting mine on Monday 20th after 9 months waiting - 60 suite with a few packs
