I'm a newbie to EV's.

I mean its filled with gallons of flammable liquid, and has lots of hot parts and they get crashed etc etc.
The problem is its common enough no-one bothers talking about it.
The only vehicle fires that actually seem to get reported on are EV's, giving the skewed perception that they're somehow a fire risk, when a combustion engined car is about 10x more likely to go on fire.

That’s the likes of the Daily Mail and The Sun to blame for that; they immediately jump to “was an EV to blame” headlines for any type of mass car fire event. Not long after the Luton airport carpark fire (which wasn’t an EV), I parked next to someone at our local Sainsbury’s who said something like “is that electric? Don’t park it next to mine, I don’t want your flames to ruin my car”. Her husband looked a bit ‘handy with his fists’ if you know what I mean, so I just moved forward into the next row and said nothing .
iV80 Loft, Black, 21” Betria, 125kW, Climate Plus, Asst Drive Basic. Tethered PodPoint. Ordered May 2021. Delivered Nov 2021. Regrettably returned Jan 2024 (Company car. Changed jobs).
I've often wondered why fire suppression systems weren't mandatory on ICE vehicles.
Wouldn't it be funny if every EV driver embraced fire retardant race gear when driving , á la Stig - nipping to the shops or into town for lunch and a pint. Sat there with a beaming grin knowing you were "safe & protected"..... I recall Covid lock down ....the shoppers of all budgets getting seriously creative with breathing apparatus, headgear and diy hasmat attire. Still makes me chuckle ....
No offence meant to you 3D printing types reading this either.
