Seriously considering one of these, a sportline 80x with all the packs (apart from sunroof that don't interest me)

Wondered in this current climate if anyone manage to get anything free or discounted like 4/5 warranty, packs etc etc?

I didn’t get anything at all. Way back when, I remember them trying to make me feel lucky to even be put on the waiting list! Needed a car by the July and it was a coin toss between the Skoda and a Volvo XC40 Recharge. Skoda won on boot and range and I think the dealers were very aware of that. I’ve been very happy since I got the Yak but it did irk that there was no wiggle room.

Usually try and secure a discount on new cars, however, in the current climate there was nothing on offer for any of the EVs I was interested in. Did secure free 20” alloy wheel upgrade and chrome package which was worth £850, plus government grant of £2500 and VAG finance contribution of £750. If ordered today an identical Enyaq would cost at least an additional £3,300 possibly more depending on whether VAG still offer a finance contribution! Worth checking around to see if any discounts available. Some supply chains are easing, by way of example replace my electric mountain bikes frequently - last April for the first time unable to secure any discount, just ordered a replacement for April 22 - delivery times reduced and discounts back! Hope this is replicated in the EV market.

Likewise , I usually get between 10-20% on new cars. Nothing on this and carwow has pretty much stopped any discounts on anything close to desirable

The current shortage has given control back to the manufacturers.

Ironically the shortage is actually good for their business and profit margins long term, less cars but high prices and profit margins

Great article that explains well from Autotrader

I think the area for negotiation is on the dealer extras - paint protection, cosmetic damage insurance, tyre/alloy insurance, GAP insurance, etc. are all bits that are within the dealer's margin and there's potentially big profits for them. Autoglym Lifeshine kit costs the dealer around £40/car and they sell it for £400. Yes, there's some time to apply it factored into that price, but everything is negotiable. Ultimately, if you look like you're on the point of signing on the dotted line and pay a £1k deposit, but then look like you're going to walk away from the sale, generally they'll do something to push you over the line. Don't expect the world though - I got nothing off my Kodiaq that I've got on order, but there was a £2750 finance deposit and I got the paint protection thrown in for free and the tyre protection for half price.

Hello,

I managed to get literally only a couple of hundred pounds discounted off the price of my car order on PCP which is understandable given the situation at the moment. Echoing what other members have said, with demand greater than supply, the items that could potentialy be discounted (using PCP packages as an example here) are things like GAP insurance, paint protection, service plans, scratch and dent repair packages and alloy wheel insurance if you wanted those items as part of the package for example.

I'm not an expert in any way on the matter of pricing, but if you placed an order based on the cars 2021 retail price, then got it manufactured and delivered in 2022 under the 2022 build specification because of the increased delivery time, but then the retail price of the car went up in 2022, then the dealer honours the 2021 price on the order documents when the customer placed the order, could that be viewed as a discount in a way? I don't know, I would personally, some people might not.

Many thanks.

I got £1000 off blue light discharge at Henry’s Glasgow, asked for it as it wasn't advertised. Also managed to get the government grant before it was lowered. Still don’t have the car though. Ordered Nov 21, I V 60 lots of extras.

I got £1,886 discount on top of the £2,500 government grant back in November. That was for outright purchase, with no part exchange. Quoted lead time was only 22 weeks then. Still, beginning to think it's easy to discount a car that never arrives.

July 2021 ordered. Iv80 with most upgrades, list price was around 60k€, got a 6400€ discount just by asking around.

Now that they removed car tax in Finland, the total price is around 52k, still a bit too much for me to get the ev grant, which is for 50k and under cars
