I think the only thing that we can all agree on is that fact that after spending nearly £55,000 on a car, Skoda are shit!

I think you can see a stamp/label on top of the battery (at least on the battery I got). They also need to change some settings in the car so the car knows what kind of battery it has installed). But after it has worked perfect for 2-3 months and in really cold weather.....

Mine is going in this week for the 12volt battery issue. Noticed more recently, when approaching the car, the KEYSS isnt working and if I do unlock manually, then the lights don't come on. Also, opened just the boot last night and no interior lights.. Hoping that with all this as evidence, they will just swap the 12volt battery out. I did fully charge in a few weeks ago, but now back to square one.

Also, last week have had the App reporting the car is "offline". So can't check charge, heat interior or anything.. Hopefully, also linked in with the 12v battery somehow.

I find it frustrating that when describing this to the dealers, they make it seem you are making it up.. The first service "adviser" I spoke to was so condescending, quite rude and was happy to tell me if they find nothing wrong, I will be charged.. Good luck with that !! Do they really think I want to waste my time getting the car to them and then picking up again. She was not a fan of forums, where people can compare issues... Anyway, bounced that dealer and going to another one, who could see me inside 2 months, with out the jumped up attitude. They must know about the 12volt issue by now.

This typically means the car cannot connect to the Skoda servers (over the internet). This isn't necessarily battery related - there was a spate of this happening a couple of weeks across the UK. But I guess it's possible that with a low battery the internet connection gets shutdown to save power.

I have also noticed this but thought it impossible.

I walked past the car a week or so ago, with my phone in pocket and the keys safely away in the house - Not interfered with when leaving.

The car woke up and approach lights even came on - which I thought impossible.

However - latest build cars have unlocking and locking via the app if the car is within a certain distance of the car, and the phone has Bluetooth enabled.

Mine doesn’t, it’s on 4.0 but obviously the app supports this functionality in the background.

I do wonder if the phone is communicating with the car and with the car not being compatible - strange behaviour results.
So this was me on another deleted account.

I have narrowed down the issue with certainty and it’s repeatable now.

The cause: KESSY and 4.0+ cars with approach and walk away locking + an app version that supports cars with trained parking/app locking (the car does not).

Reason: the app communicates with the car in a different way and the car wakes up in a different way. I believe there has been settings changed within the car by the changes main behind the scenes to support these features on newer cars.

Background:
12V already replaced and issues with new 12v after 1 month also.

Only fix - disable the following (approach lights and walk away lights)l for both users as it’s a user setting) and disable KESSY entirely (not just walk away locking / approach locking), disable car wake on app open.

After this app works flawlessly starting climate etc and never ever any 12V warnings or issues.

With these disabled when opening the app, the top left time when last connected is always the last time it’s locked (or went online if HV charging).

With these enabled when opening the app, the time is sporadic - ie the car wakes up randomly to check for the key (with or without app interaction), unless the key is over 30+ft away which is too far when at home for most people. The key doesn’t always respond with flashing lights etc. the car then sleeps and repeat -(it can be every 20-30minutes for the low level wake which is then shown in the app).

I believe an app update, changed an online setting (possibly the distance) which was then pushed to the car and started these issues. Yes these is possible - as they already enabled HV to 12V charging via an app update (VW got this an app setting but Škoda just forced it on).

These issues started when it got colder - but this aligns with when 5.2+ cars were released which support app locking and unlocking and trained parking was bought to the app. I think a software update will fix this in the future - hopefully.

Can anyone else see the same app behaviour?

First three screenshots are with KESSY enabled, car last used at 9AM but online ‘recently’.

Last screenshot with KESSY disabled and correct time of when last used.

If you have the car turn on/off the light everytime you walk by the car .... of cause that effects the battery in a negative way....!

How ever....they changed your 12v battery. But to what kind of 12v battery?! If they installed the same crappy one you got with the car....then that's why it's not working gor you! You need the AGM/gel battery.....then it works without problems even in -25c!
