Well I am checking with the lease company and see how much it might be....
85x Sportline Plus
I used TrailerTrek to add a towbar to my GTE as they had all of the details my lease company needed. My 85X is due in July (wasn’t allowed to add towbar) and TrailerTrek said they can fit a detachable swan neck with 7 pin with enyaq cabling for under £800

OK, thanks. £800 seems OK. Mine arrives 9th July.

Sorry yes I meant the retractable tow bar. It has a button in the boot that releases it from under the rear bumper.

Just a heads up, I don't know if it's true, but in the brochures it states that if the towbar isn't fitted by them (possibly at production) that the VIN may not have Tow Weights inserted therefore you can't/legally can't/shouldn't tow.
Too many maybes, I've gone and found the info from the brochure, please see below.
"Please note: If a tow bar or tow bar preparation is not fitted on the car, the VIN plate may not show any towing weights and the car will never be eligible for towing. As such it may not be possible to retrospectively fit a tow bar if the car is not fitted with tow bar preparation at Factory. Please speak to your
chosen Škoda Retailer (who act on our behalf) to confirm the exact towing eligibility"

While it does say this, i believe all UK cars have the weight on there.Davey2C wrote: ↑Sat Jun 08, 2024 5:24 pm Just a heads up, I don't know if it's true, but in the brochures it states that if the towbar isn't fitted by them (possibly at production) that the VIN may not have Tow Weights inserted therefore you can't/legally can't/shouldn't tow.

My car was ordered without towbar prep. However the VIN Plate and V5 both state it can tow 1 tonne.
Skoda themselves also have a part number for their towbar kit for models without factory towbar prep. It gives an extra piece of loom which connects between the rear of the car and front footwell.
I guess its something for other juristdictions or just a general cover-all statement.
However its correct in that IF the VIN plate and V5 dont state the towing weight, its illegal to tow with the car.
I think newer models might all have the towbar prep included anyway.

We had the factory fitted retractable towbar, and it works well with out bike rack.
My previous Octavia estate has a fixed towbar - I asked the dealer to fit it, but he said they'd just drive it round to Autotronix, a local car electrical shop, so I'd be better getting it done there. They made a complete pigs ear of it:
I asked for a Witter towbar with fully wired Euro plug. When I plugged it in, only the basics had been wired, so I had to take it back. The electrics failed within a couple of years and I found out that they hadn't used Witter electrics.
