Hi all. I have a call out booked with AA through Skoda assist for the morning but wonder if anybody can point me in the right direction please....

The charge door on my Enyaq is permanently stuck in the closed position. I have tried the suggestions found on the net to open with no luck. I cannot hear the solenoid activating when unlocking the car so assume this is the issue but wouldn't mind getting it open if anybody has any suggestions please ??

That is to release the cable, not to open the door

You’ll have to get it to a garage, and ask them to pry it open, otherwise they could say it’s not covered under warranty.
The technician should be able to do that in 20 seconds, and you can then get a time booed in for the change of the solenoid, which happens to die on so many VAG cars

Thanks for replies....

I believe the cable in the boot is ONLY for cable release, not door release. What a short sighted decision that was !!

Have spoken with local Skoda this morning and they have confirmed the AA guy can open the door and any damage would be covered under warranty as it is through Skoda Assist.

It's interesting that I hadn't seen any reports of stuck charge port doors on here or any of the other Enyaq forums I used to read until this year. So have there really been no incidents for the first three and a bit years of the Enyaq, and some design change has now caused it to occur, or did people just not post about it?

Still don’t get why it even has a lock in it - can’t see it serves any purpose - it’s not like someone can siphon off your electricity

It's the same door mechanism as the petrol/diesel Skodas, no point reinventing something that works perfectly well on the rest of the range (and indeed other VW Group models).

I would generally agree to the philosophy reuse - reuse - reuse - but I do think the charge flap is an 'awkward' looking thing and an accident waiting to happen! Fine for cars filling with fuel where you open put the fuel in and close - but for an EV where charging requires it remain open it sticks out a mile requiring you to 'manoeuvre' your body round it when parked to another car. I'm just waiting for a clumsy oaf like myself to catch it and break it off!!! The Audi etron and Tesla flaps are far more elegant solutions - but I accept also more complex!

Already happened on mine. See my thread on replacing it (actually a dead easy 15 minute job) :D
