Hi all,

I’ve been lurking on these forums since ordering my car through my works salary sacrifice scheme in June and it seems like a nice friendly place.

Well, today is delivery day!

Very soon there’ll no longer be a Tesla Model 3 Long Range on the drive and she will have been replaced by a beautiful Skoda Enyaq Coupe L&K with Max Pack in Race Blue with a cream interior. We can’t wait!

Looking forward to getting to know at least some of you when I no doubt have lots of questions.

Sod’s Law that I’m getting mine just as the face lift is announced but honestly I think I prefer the design pre facelift.

Cheers,

Al

Enjoy, there's nothing really new in the facelift so you shouldn't be missing anything.

So she arrived this morning, and I’m still figuring everything out but so far we’re all impressed.
First thing to note is that the app reports the car as being on software version 5 which I’ve not read or heard about anywhere I thought the latest was version 4.
I think I’m supposed to have lane change assist (not entirely sure) but can’t work out if the car is changing lanes or just drifting over as it seems to continue moving over even once it’s in the next lane. Needs more experimentation I think.
CarPlay is awesome.
Regenerative braking doesn’t seem as strong as on the model 3 that the Enyaq has replaced. I’m a bit confused as to why they offer different options as surely max regenerative braking is the obvious thing to do to get the most range? Also, regenerative braking just doesn’t seem to work at all in D mode no matter what I do with the paddles behind the steering wheel.
The Canton sound system is wonderful.
Heads up display feels like magic.
Park assist I’ve used twice, once at home with a “remembered” parking spot which ended up parking at a funny angle, and once in a car park space where it ended up on the line, I’m thinking this is because it wasn’t between two cars?? Again, further experimentation needed I think.

All in all the car just feels better than the Tesla, more solid, more upmarket, better put together. I do think the software could be better thought out though, the Enyaq has SO many physical buttons compared to the Tesla and yet nothing feels as easy to do. Maybe this is just down to lack of familiarity.
I have a 3rd Rock granny charger on order which will hopefully arrive on Monday, I only ever used a granny charger with the Tesla for the past 3 years and never had any problems so am hoping I can continue that ethos with the Enyaq.

All in all I’m glad we changed from Tesla to Skoda, it’s a just a much better car!

I’ll upload pics as soon as I get her washed and find a scenic spot to take some.

[EDIT] The app seems to be playing up this evening as it’s reporting that it can’t display the location of the car as the car is in motion. It’s not, it’s parked outside, here’s hoping that sorts itself out overnight[/EDIT]

Most braking is done with regen (see the blue bar on the dash when you press the brake pedal). The difference between D, B and anything you do with the paddles is the amount of ‘engine braking’ (to use an ICE term) you get when you lift off the accelerator. In D, it’ll coast when you take your foot off. In B it’ll brake quite a bit though there’s usually still more regen available if you press the brake.

The paddles on ours only seem to work until you next press the accelerator (so not much use) but that may be related to Eco Assist? Someone else here will know; I didn’t look into it any more as B mode suits me fine.

The Enyaq (and other VW MEB cars) are a bit cleverer than max regenerative braking. They use map and camera data to reduce regen and coast where possible, and increase regen when you would naturally be slowing anyway (eg approaching corners or junctions). Once you get used to it, it makes a lot of sense.

Some people don’t like it, so you can turn it off if you like. But I’d give it a chance - it makes for a more relaxed driving style.

I did notice, and was very impressed by, the fact that when I had the ACC on (it took me a while to figure out how to switch from ACC to full on TA) if I indicated to turn the car would slow down for the turn even though ACC was on - much more intelligent than the Tesla autopilot.

Just ordered the ŠKODA Enyaq Coupe 85x Sportline Plus in Blue , not sure if I should add the heat pump extra £1005.00 would welcome any feedback on other owner who have the heat pump fitted. Couple of things I would like to have had on it is the 3D Camera just because I’m use to it on the car I have and again just because I have it on the car I’ve been driving for the last 4 years the passenger seat to be all electric , other than that it’s fully loaded .

I stupidly assumed my car would come with a heat pump and was really worried about range etc when I found out it didn’t. After reading around the subject in these and other EV forums it seems heat pumps don’t make such a massive difference after all, or that seems to be the consensus of opinion.
