Car in at the dealership today.....they tell me they've run a "charge acceptance test" on the 12V battery and it failed - new battery ordered (warranty as the car is only 5 months old) and hopefully fitted before the end of the week. I will report back when fitted and see if my issues have gone awayrobem64 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 9:15 am My car has already been booked into the dealers for 28th Jan (earliest they could get me in when I booked in December!) for this issue and it keeps getting worse. Originally the remote app message and the occasional warning on the dash of restricted 12V supply. Now I NEVER can remotely access through the app, the welcome lights don't operate, when I get in the car I get an immediate dash message "Error in 12V supply, visit workshop" and when I get this it appears my heated seats don't work nor the rear window demister.
I would add I've prevuously tried charging the 12V as suggested by the dealership - within 10 mins I got the remote app message and when i drove the car around 30 mins later I got the "restricted 12V supply" on the dash.
I'm very much hoping they swap the battery on my next visit.
Remote Controls Disabled & Low 12V Battery Message – Software Issue?

I will post this same message as a response to a few posts because of how diabolical this situation is.
I had my 12V replaced by ŠKODA assist at home just before Christmas - it failed their test immediately.
Since then - I actually logged out and deleted the app entirely and all seemed well.
But 1 month later - it’s all back - but different.
I downloaded the app to look at something for powerpass and when looking at this noticed it said the car was online but shouldn’t have been - was not set to wake etc.
Logged back out and deleted the app.
Went into the new place we keep our keys - we moved them further from the car and normally when you walk with them to this spot the light goes out on the key before we put them time - indicating out of range so all good. However I noticed both keys were sat in the cupboard flashing without being moved or the car used for hours.
I go to the car lights still flashing on the key - no approach lights, KESSY not working and everything slow to load in the car again - didn’t bother trying the app. Just like before Christmas.
Tried turning off most settings - brought the keys back in - put them in the cupboard - light won’t stop flashing - waited for more than 2 minutes.
Walk to the literal furthest point in our house from the car - light still flashing - there is no way this should be in range compared to what I used to see.
Put the keys back in the cupboard and the light goes out (nearer to the car now) - watch them for a couple of minutes (the joys of owning an Enyaq) - every 1 minute both keys wake up in sync and start flashing without being moved - flash for about 10 seconds and sleep for another minute - and repeat for over 10 minutes.
I go back to the car and switch off KESSY entirely. Lock the car and the lights go out and all seems good.
Now - at the weekend I was cleaning the car and recall when spraying the car with water with the key in a pocket the car kept locking and unlocking.
I also realised it’s raining - heavily.
Is this the reason these messages are coming and 12V being destroyed? Is the car trying to wake up and see the key when rain is running over the touch sensors? Is this why it’s worse in ‘winter’ - it’s wetter and the 12V can’t handle it. Is this why I had to replace both key batteries also within 8 months?
Does the car being plugged in - and it raining make it worse? Is there some sort of strange ground issue? Anyone familiar with the strange static feel of using something like an Apple laptop when plugged in and touching your finger across it gently.
Could this lead to the problem / enhance the key range or confuse the car with how far away the key is?
So many questions , but 1 answer - the 12V being replaced does not fix the issue. It’s the same as emptying the bucket under a leaking roof.

If the battery failed their test, that would suggest there was something wrong with the battery.
Perhaps your car has a secondary issue?
You said you turned off Kessy, but then spraying water was unlocking the car? That in itself seems contradictory?

The battery had no issues at the dealer (apparently), but the ŠKODA Assist replaced it next day as it failed at home ‘immediately’. He said it can take 15 minutes to fail but within 30 seconds it failed.
That is my point that there is another issue- everyone getting 12V batteries replaced or saying it’s the solution - I don’t believe it is. We had 1 month of it working flawlessly until now - so something is ‘damaging’ the battery in my eyes. ŠKODA seem to be ignoring this.
Apologies on the confusion. I switched KESSY off last night when it was raining as the keys would not sleep.
I was cleaning the car last weekend, and noticed the effect water on the touch sensors has on the car.
I only associated the possibility of rain with the issue last night.
Saying this - switched KESSY back on this morning as it wasn’t raining. Keys and car still won’t sleep unless the key is about 10 car lengths away.

Leave kessy off for a couple weeks and see how things go? Try to actually narrow it down rather than flip flopping.
The keys themselves are supposed to goto sleep if left alone not being touched, as a security measure to stop relay attacks. So seems weird that they arent going to sleep. I dont know what the time out is though, its possible its longer than 10minutes.
Obviously on the forum here, we're just seeing complaints, and only ever seeing part of the full story, but those complaints seem to stem almost entirely from 2024 cars. Many of those owners have had batteries replaced after the dealer investigated and found it to be faulty. Some have had multiple visits to the dealer and NOT had the battery replaced and the issues continue. So theres at least some evidence that the problem is linked to the battery itself being faulty.
Now, granted, its possible the battery could be faulty due to something the car is doing TO the battery, resulting in a fresh battery fixing it for a while before it too becoming faulty. What i will say to people, generally, is that if a 12v lead acid has become discharged for any reason, if you want it to actually last, you need to properly charge it for a good 12+ hours. Driving the car about, ICE or EV, is not sufficient to properly recharge the battery and remove all the sulphation that builds up, unless your putting many hours in.
The only data point i can add is my 2021 car has NEVER given a battery warning. It also doesnt have KESSY. Even when it sat at Skoda for 3 months awaiting repairs (and with Octopus polling it the entire time as i never turned off Smart Charging), i never once had a battery warning from it... Its certainly worrying, i sorta fancied upgrading to an 85 for the extra power, but its certainly helping me keep delaying the urge!
If it was my car, i'd probably be buying a BM1 battery datalogger and hooking it up to try and visualise whats going on.

Just thinking you should probably buy a Faraday pouch for your keys anyway if you have keyless entry. I don't have keyless entry because of the relay theft problem, but I still store my keys in a pouch in an attempt to make the fob battery last longer.

Hi,
Just had my 12v battery replaced under warranty.
Unfortunately it took total of 3 visits to 2 Skoda dealers.
I had several of the gremlins described on this forum and investigated the 12v battery myself using a Topdon OBD box that fortunately displayed the battery voltage on the main screen. I put this device on the dash so I could read it through the windscreen. The battery voltage plummeted quickly but as soon as you opened the door or sat in the car it was obviously charged by the traction battery and the voltage quickly restored. My local Skoda dealer looked at the car after patient wait if 2 week and returned the car with no fault found and no error codes. When I set up the appointment I suggested that they should make sure that they had a replacement battery available before my appointment. Gremlins continued in frequency and severity!
I then booked it into the dealer from whom I purchased the car for 2 days, again after a 2 week wait, and went away with a courtesy car. On picking up the car I was advised that they cleared the error codes and everything should be ok. I drove the car for 10 mins to the local Tesco. The keyless locking worked immediately after parking but failed to let me on my return 10 mins later. The timed charging failed to work that night so I booked the car in again, incurring another wait of 3 weeks over Christmas and New year.
I supplied a detailed list of the gremlins and as one of them was that I could not gain entry with the key fob I was able to keep the hire car until a replacement battery arrived 3 weeks later.
Unfortunately poor service appears to be a result of scarcity of technicians who have adequate training and experience and made worse by a scarcity of spare parts.
My background is fortunately in control and instrumentation. I can only imagine how difficult things must be for owners with no technical background. I guessed the gremlins were due to the 12v battery and had pretty much confirmed my suspicions after monitoring the battery voltage for a hour!
The problem with this forum is that it only seems to advise problems but little in the way of solutions

Hi coupe85, would you mind measuring battery voltage now that it’s been replaced?
My testing shows the battery sitting idle at 12.7v (seemingly charged to a reasonable SoC), but a dramatic drop to just below 12v when unlocking the car or opening the tailgate. (Stabilises back to around 12.1-2v immediately after opening the tailgate). Once the car shuts down it seems to slowly creep back up towards 12.7 again.
Like you I could not convince my dealership that the battery is faulty even though I’m seeing a big voltage drop under minimal load.
I suspect there is an issue with the battery management routine that is causing premature failure of the 12v battery and those who are having the battery replaced will likely see the same issue again before long.
However, it is my view that skoda probably needs to keep replacing these batteries until they figure out the problem - the way they are treating their customers and the lack of communication between skoda and their dealership network is astounding really.
